New York (as well as rest of USA)—Today is “Hat Day in the Sun!”
It’s an annual event that celebrates not only one of accessories fastest growing categories but headwear’s healthful benefits in sun protection.
The event kicks off The Headwear Association’s Skin Cancer Awareness Promotions that continues through the rest of June. As part of the festivities, Free Sun Protection Hats are being distributed nationwide today, and Sun Protection Hat Giveaways will run through the rest of June are listed on the THA Facebook page. ( https://www.facebook.com/TheHeadwearAssociation).
To celebrate the 8th annual “Hat Day in the Sun”, THA is giving away thousands of free wide-brimmed sun-protection hats in cities across the country as part of a public awareness campaign to educate people that the right hat can protect against skin cancer, sun damage, and premature aging.
Sun Protection—and Fun!
It’s an issue not to be taken lightly. Melanoma is the most common of all cancers, and 90% of all cases are caused by sun over-exposure. The right hat can protect against skin cancer, sun damage, and premature aging, THA notes.
Here in New York City, Harlem’s Heaven Hat Boutique, Magid and Bollman Hat Company host a huge hat giveaway at 6 pm today at Harlem’s Heaven Hat Boutique (2538 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd).
Other host cities include: Stockton, CA; Santa Cruz, CA; Dallas; Lancaster, PA; Boulder, CO; Charleston, SC; Milwaukee, WI; and Detroit. For complete event details, visit: www.TheHeadwearAssociation.org/hat-day-in-the-sun.
For those headwear enthusiasts who don’t live in one of the host cities, they can win a sun-protection hat on the THA Facebook page.
Keep an eye out for the “Hat Day in the Sun Giveaway” posts. Free hats are being provided by Broner, Dorfman-Pacific, Bollman Hat Company, Magid Hats, Wallaroo Hats, San Diego Hat Company, HATCO, and American Hat Makers/Head’n Home Hats. www.theheadwearassociation.org
