Kangol Teams Up With 10 Underground Record Labels To Launch Radio Kangol

New York–Iconic headwear brand Kangol, born in London and raised in New York, is launching a radio streaming station-featuring music exclusively curated by ten global underground record labels including Golf Channel, Rockers International, Stones Throw, Foundation, Burger, PPU Records, Soundway, Workshop, Plant Records and Minimal Wave. Available at www.radiokangol.com.  Radio Kangol is a love letter to the enduring role Kangolheadwear has played in the music world since it was adopted by the Beatles in the 1960s, and the legends of the hip-hop community in the 1980s, including LL Cool J, Run-DMC and Grandmaster Flash.

Radio Kangol presents an eclectic mix of genres spanning reggae, dance, Hip-Hop, house, indie rock, global dance, techno, experimental and funk and soul. The labels represent cities as afield as Tokyo, London, Washington DC and New York. Each label has produced a six-hour playlist that will be a combination of live and recorded shows. The playlists allow music fans the ability to discover and share new music on Radio Kangol microsite, or listen via a stand-alone music player housed on the Kangol website.
Each label on the New York station is matched with an iconic Kangol hat, all available to purchase on www.kangol.com. Each hat style has been chosen to reflect the Kangol headwear trends found in each musical subculture, be it the classic Kangol beret in the roots reggae scene, the Kangol bucket hat in hip-hop, or the Kangol cap in dance music.

WINDOW SHOPPING JUNE 2015

At last weeks DORFMAN PACIFIC'S NSM, we focused a lot on popular culture trends like Coachella, Boho Chic etc. Today, I decided to look at what's happening in the luxury market, and no better place to window shop than Hong Kong's PREMIUM luxury emporium, The Landmark.

At Chanel they have already put up their early fall 15 window. Classic black and white with an Austrian inspiration. The featured hats.

Ascot Chan was still in summer mode and featured a genuine Panama hat. I like that this is a young guys look and not an old stogy tailored look.



HACKETT LONDON had a fine display of ivy caps and fedoras.


At the NSM we looked at color trends and how important the 50 SHADES OF ORANGE  are. Well, the well heeled customer, is definitely loving it.

TOD'S was embracing orange from shoes to handbags.





FENDI was definitely feeling orange.



LOWE was loving orange.



Even the lads were being tempted by orange.

STRAIT-LACED AT BURBERRY PRORSUM and GUCCI SPRING 2016

Burberry Prorsum once again staged a classy runway show for spring 2016 and called it Strait-Laced, an obvious reference to the narrow tailored silhouette that inspired the collection, but also an acknowledgement of the way in which the lace itself undercut the formality of a tailored suit. Lace shirts and ties paired with sartorial cut jackets and pants made for a not so subtle BEAU BRUMMELL look. A lace collar on a trench was a timely way to update a Burberry classic. The "boy-friend" shirt may be stronger than ever next year!

Bailey found other ways to express the notion of loosening the straitlaced. Cashmere knit track pants were a big proposal. When he paired them with silk T-shirts, they had a sensual indolence that subtly subverted the basic tee-and-joggers formula. There was the same incongruity with the gauzy tops in abstract animal prints, or the string of green beads draped around a collar-and-tied neck, or the insect tiepins. Little details that suggested whoever is wearing the suit isn't the straitlaced guy you think he is. Christopher Bailey is continuing to add freshness to the palette of the Burberry man by pushing the boundaries of what the modern man should wear.








And not to be outshone by the Burberry Prorsum peacocks the ladies looked even more ravishing.






Not to be out-laced, we also saw the men's lace trend on the GUCCI runway but shown in a much casual look. There is nothing straight-laced about the GUCCI lad and lassies.

CALLANAN COACHELLA COLLECTION

The Coachella music festival may be well over for another year, but you can get your Coachella vibe on any time you want, in a Coachella inspired Callanan hat. The Coachella "look" is a very Woodstock boho look, crowned with an unstructured floppy hat.
For those of you that live under a rock, the Coachella Music festival aka COACHELLA, is an annual music and art festival held in the Coachella valley, California. It has grown from a 2 day event in 1999, to a six day event in 2015 with 579,000 attendees and has become a driving force in the fashion world.
